HyperVisc HV1 PVT Viscometer

HyperVisc_slide1

The Hydramotion HyperVisc HV1 is a high-performance flow-through PVT viscometer designed for use at high temperatures and pressures, most often for core analysis in the oil industry.

The orientation-independent transducer has a solid construction with no moving parts, seals or bearings, so routine maintenance is minimal. The viscometer is factory-calibrated and shipped ready for immediate use, enabling viscosity measurement to begin immediately following installation and electrical hook-up. The minimal maintenance and ease-of-use are part of the reason why the HyperVisc makes such a good replacement for Cambridge piston viscometers, in addition to  capillary and rolling ball viscometers made by Vinci Technologies.

The HyperVisc HV1 measures the viscosity of small volumes of fluid at high pressure. The instrument also calculates viscosity corrected to a reference temperature. All the processes
necessary for deriving real-time viscosity are
performed by the electronics contained in theHyperVisc
associated VCon-100 controller module.

  • Flow-through, no need to by-pass when
    making measurements
  • Continuous Measurement
  • High Pressure & High Temperature
  • Integral Temperature Sensor
  • Not Affected by Particles

The advantage of the HyperVisc HV1 viscometer over other high-pressure, high-temperature/PVT viscometers on the market is that there are no moving parts, no maintenance or calibration needed, no changes needed to measure the entire viscosity range and no need to stop flow or bypass while taking measurements. The HyperVisc HV1 offers a higher pressure range (up to 40,000 psi), higher temperature range (up to 350C) and larger range of viscosity (up to 20,000 cP) than the closest competition, at a lower cost!

High accuracy and repeatability are achieved by the use of high-stability materials and a patented tuned resonance technology which exclusively measures shear viscosity. Among the many benefits of the technique is the natural rejection of any background vibration and noise.

Viscosity can be measured for almost any Newtonian fluids.  In addition, the HyperVisc HV1 is ideal for most non-Newtonian fluids because its high shear rate results in highly repeatable measurements that aren’t affected by flow rate changes.

The VP550 signal processor supplied with the instrument allows the user to view all measured and calculated variables and configure the system for optimum performance. In addition to a simple USB connection, the VP550 provides a serial data link, two volt-free relay contacts and three analog outputs, all fully configurable, for viscosity monitoring and control.
