XL7 transducers are designed to work right in the heart of the process. They are not affected by pipe/tank size or upset by gas or air bubbles. Installation and operation are quick and simple, and should not require any special training or skills.
Viscosity can be measured for almost any Newtonian fluids whether they are moving or at rest. In addition, Hydramotion’s XL7 is ideal for most non-Newtonian fluids because its high shear rate results in highly repeatable measurements that aren’t affected by flow rate changes.
Practically any process coupling can be factory fitted to your new viscometer, ranging from flanges and threads to hygienic RJT, IDF and tri-clamp fittings. Simply specify at the ordering stage.
The Hydramotion XL7 inline viscometer can be mounted in any orientation and supplied with virtually any process connection to suit your needs. The instruments require no special pipework or additional infrastructure – simply bolt on, supply power and you’re ready to measure viscosity. Calibration is maintained whatever the circumstances, so no on-site transducer recalibration is necessary.
There are also Intrinsically Safe versions of Hydramotion’s XL7, which can operate in Class I Division 1 Group A and ATEX Zone 0 hazardous environments, and options for extended pressure (up to 20,000 PSI), special materials for wetted parts, various process fittings, and even custom designs for unusual conditions.
The VP550 Signal Processor is connected to the XL7 transducer via a simple 3-core cable and provides all display and signals for plant operation. Transducer and processor can be mounted up to 1 km apart; 4-20mA and serial data outputs allow for direct connection with recording and supervisory equipment for viscosity monitoring and control.
XL7 viscometers are frequently used as part of an automatic viscosity-based process control feedback loop.
