XL7-d16 Polymer Melt-Pipe Viscometer

The Hydramotion XL7-d16 polymer melt-pipe inline viscometer is available as a range of standard models, but can also be adapted to suit any special inline application– all with the same features and benefits:

  • High accuracy and sensitivity
  • Simple installation
  • Virtually maintenance free
  • Resilient to process conditions
  • Any pipe size
  • All melt-pipe fittings
  • Digital and analog output

XL7-d16 transducers are designed to work right in the heart of the process.  They are not affected by pipe size or upset by gas or air bubbles.  Installation and operation are quick and simple, and should not require any special training or skills.

Features

The Hydramotion XL7-d16 polymer melt-pipe viscometer can be mounted in any orientation and has been designed to retro-fit existing polymer melt equipment. The instruments require no special pipework or additional infrastructure – simply bolt on, supply power and you’re ready to measure viscosity. Calibration is maintained whatever the circumstances, so no on-site transducer recalibration is necessary.

There are also Intrinsically Safe versions of Hydramotion’s XL7, which can operate in Class I Division 1 Group A and ATEX Zone 0 hazardous environments.

The VP550 Signal Processor is connected to the XL7 transducer via a simple 3-core cable and provides all display and signals for plant operation. Transducer and processor can be mounted up to 1,000 meters apart; 4-20mA and serial data outputs allow for direct connection with recording and supervisory equipment for viscosity monitoring and control.

XL7 viscometers are frequently used as part of an automatic viscosity-based process control feedback loop.

Designed to Retrofit

Installation is simple. Just fit to the line, connect power and you’re ready to go.

For further simplicity of use, the d16 has been designed to retro-fit existing polymer melt equipment without the need to change pipework. This makes it even quicker to get all the advantages of Hydramotion while saving on the cost or inconvenience of pipework changes.
